The bed already consists of a large piece and can be used as a bench or sofa (bed part 01). For sleeping we need a little more space. To have a flexible solution we decide to build a foldable or retractable bed. It should not only be extendable, but also the surface should be used as storage space.
So we build one extendable slatted frame / stool or bed surface and one drawer for each opening. The left drawer is smaller in order to reach up to the wheel arch and still be flush with the seat. But with CarTon everything can be easily moved and so we get four new components, which we also carry and try out with Nito. As we already knew before, the seat doesn’t fit in yet, but with the new wooden floor we now know the right height and can cut out the hubcap and adjust the seat on the spot. The big advantage with the material corrugated cardboard, easy to change and so we can shape the bench without much work, measuring or annoying cuts. When we are finished, we put everything on and there is a wow-effect.
It works and so the whole thing is painted and put back into the disguised and removed bus (interior). Some time later we also receive our custom-made foam mattresses and so we can test the principle of the different height and the whole sleeping area. With the help of the future wardrobe, the parts should be pressed so tightly together that the individual parts do not slip. Below them are the large drawers, in which we can get some things in and also open them. We are looking forward to our first night in the disguised Nito!
