It does not always have to go to the farthest corners of the world. Every flight and every kilometer I ask myself if it is ecologically necessary. But we need experience, cultural exchange, we have a little bit of Normade in us. At some point I was asked whether I like being a European. I didn’t know the answer then, I don’t know it today. I have been a European for as long as I can remember and don’t know what it is like to be something else. But what is Europe? What makes us Europeans? We want to discover it.

Europe’s beautiful countries and cities offer a lot. We read a lot and look at photos. @bee gave me the magazine Dumont (green areas on the map) as a present and every month there are new articles and pictures that will captivate you. You want to go straight there, discover this diversity in Europe. Very slowly, a small route is formed from destinations and above all wishes. We both know that not everything can be achieved, but one direction is clear. The main thing is to do it together.

We start in March 2021 – currently our things are being sorted out and packed into boxes for storage next year. We don’t know if we can follow our route, Covid-19 will certainly influence and shape our journey. But after careful consideration we have told ourselves that we have to do it anyway. We will not be able to do it in this form later in life. Our daughter will then be 1 year old, I just finished my doctorate, Sarah quit her job. There will be upheaval, if not now, then one does not know when. So we will try and in the worst case we will turn back. That’s why we don’t do anything fixed, but spontaneously, let ourselves drift and be accompanied by this adventure.
